Zamoskvoretskoe Regional Community "Drug detei"
Address: 54 Bolshaya Polyanka Street, Moscow
The Zamoskvoretskoe Regional Community was one of many regional subdivisions of the «Drug detei» community (ODD, obshchestvo drug detei). It was opened by 1928.
This community was founded in 1944 within the Detkomissiya (Children’s Committee) of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee. Later, an All-Russian ODD was established that encompassed all the local organizations. The society was organized on a voluntary basis and it existed until 1935. In the 1920s, the ODD's main concern was homeless children. In the 1930s, its focus shifted to the fight for public education, educational work in schools, organization of kindergartens and nurseries, and the eradication of homelessness. The community propagated pedagogical ideas in the spirit of Communism.
